Devolved politics is too often ignored by the national media and many of the mainstream blogs or dismissed as too complicated/not relevant. This blog aims to address that by examining the biggest issues in Scottish and Welsh politics each week and detailing the political activities of the major players.
In key policy areas, particularly Education and Health, there is an ever growing divergence between policies persued at Westminster and those pursued by the devolved bodies. With the SNP governing in Scotland and Labour in Wales, there is likely to be increasing policy tension between the regions and the Coalition at Westminster.
Tom Rouse is a trainee newspaper journalist at Cardiff University. Having previously worked on the Yes! To Fairer Votes campaign, he has now abandoned working in politics with the aim of instead writing about those who do. He is the Founding Editor of The Grapevine, a non-party political blog aimed at students and student writers which was recently named by Total Politics as one of the top 10 non-aligned blogs in the UK.
